MMARIE

Application of high performance computing techniques for the modelling of marine ecosystems (MMARIE). MMARIE groups together 15 partners from 7 European countries, who are actively involved in both High Performance Computing (HPC) techniques and Marine Sciences: sea hydrodynamics, transport phenomena (sediments, pollutants, nutrients, etc), biological and biochemical processes and the interactions between them.

The general problems addressed in MMARIE are

1. The information exchange and the collaboration will focus on:
   • implementation of existing models to high performance computers;
   • refinement of the models and the algorithms;
   • benchmarking of the parallel software and validation of new models.
2. Organisation of electronic data exchange. Organisation of an easy access for all partners to information relevant for the project, stored in a central computer, such that a structured search and information retrieval is possible.
