The NGO movement

Organized bodies and NGO s can usually play a great role in environmental management. Even when they have only observer status, they can do a lot to sway the opinion of the deliberation especially when they have done a lot of specialized work in the area and have got sizable volume of information. During the seventies, six to seven hundred environmental action groups were established in the Netherlands, with about 2 million members. This is the reason why nature protection and conservation take a prominent place on the political agenda in the country.
