The natural ecosystems of the Commander Islands Biosphere Reserve
were preserved owing to efforts of several generations of scientists
and conservationists (the Medny Island is on the picture). Today
the future of system of Russian protected areas depends on the
position of Federal Government as never before. The materials
of informational supplement are devoted to this issue.
